Rediscover The Story

Central to rediscovering the story is the creation of a compelling new docudrama film series on the lives of the North American Martyrs and the Indigenous Apostles. Award-winning documentary filmmaker Kevin Dunn is committed to bringing this to fruition in time for release on the Feast of the Martyrs in 2029. Much has been written by and about the canonized martyrs of North America, in particular Saints Jean de Brébeuf and Isaac Jogues and their companions. Less is known about the countless early Indigenous converts to Christianity and their heroic witness of faith. The example of Joseph Chiwatenhwa and his family, stands out as an ideal story worthy of further reflection and re-telling. Sparse writings and two sculptures currently serve as a legacy… why not bring this story to life on film?
